Yeh how cool is that?!?! Martini in the Morning Radio station will be coming to Tony's and streaming live!!! Brad will be taking your requests (he is the real life DJ - with SL persona Martini Philbin!!!) and playing them live on air over the internet and throughout Secondlife!!!
This is the second time we have had the honour of such an event, and the last time it was quite a spectacle, jazz club goers, jazz club owners, and jazz lovers alike were all in attendance and the traffic was quite something...we hope to improve that exponentially and so come on down on Tuesday June 10th at 12noon and cheer on Brad and his Martini in the Morning team (including fellow DJ whose SL name is Morning Loire), join the Lounge Lizards in Exile group, check out their website (url link on sidebar links tab) and join their real world group and donate generously to keep this awesome station running!!! (Donations to Tony's also widely acceptable too ;)7 lol )

New Comedy Showcase
Congrats to Innis Allen and Welder Blitz, winners of the Joke Off Stand Up Comedy Competition at Tony's, they will be doing a weekly showcase duo of their comedy talents, starting Sunday 25th 3pm SLT. Fellow comedians Mellovibe Giano and De Mazie will also be showcasing their talents shortly at Tony's in an attempt to tickle your chuckle muscles!
Elron Priestman the winner of the first Joke Off has graciously accepted an offer to stay on at Tony's to do a regular stint as one of our two regular in house comedians. The insanely awesome Salamander (Sal) Maroon will be the other half of this killer duo taking on a bi-monthly position.
Don't worry we will have some live music on the way again very very soon, I had to take a short break from hiring new acts due to my busy RL schedule.

Oh yes and before I forget, I have set up a new competition for budding photographers: you can take a picture with yourselves, you and your friends or you and your lover/s as long as you take it within the grounds of Rivers of Venus - this includes Rivers of Venus Ballroom, the Venus Gardens, and Tony's Jazz Lounge & Piano Bar - you are allowed to submit only one picture so find your favourite, play with various lighting settings, and make sure your angles are optimum so you get the best possible picture you can! Winners will recieve 1000L$ and all entrants will have their pictures posted on the website (to have your pictures posted on the website you will need to submit your pictures via email to absolutsmirnov@googlemail.com AS WELL as sending them to me in world with full mods (copy/mod/trans). Congratulations to Joke Off Stand up Comedy Comp Winner
Congratulations are in order for the winner of this months "Joke Off" stand up comedy competition: Elron Priestman!!! He walks away with $1000L and the coveted weekly in house Stand Up Comedian spot at Tony's.

I hope you have all managed to check out Tony's its fast becoming the premier hotspot for live music and hot events in SL and is taking Rivers of Venus back up with it. We haven't forgotten about RoV though, Oh No!! I have just spent some time and money getting Tony's off the ground that it has fallen slightly by the wey side, however it has had a small facelift by way of the new seating/bistro area in the main ballroom area. However more news to follow:
PeterWay Jefferson one of SL's hottest new talents has joined us at RoV/Tony's to become our in house musician and is set to become a regular on the SL live music circuit...he plays a superb collection of rock classics old and new in accoustic and puts his own unique and intriguing spin on some of your old fave's. As a rock music fan myself it was a very pleasant turn on some of my personal favourite songs: a MUST SEE!!!
Newspaper Stand grew up around music in a musical family and is formally trained in voice, percussion and piano, and is self taught on Guitar, bass guitar, Russian box harp, and electronic programming. Her tastes are widely eclectic, and include most genres excluding modern pop, and prefers the underground scene in each genre over the mainstream. She also writes original material in rock and electronica, and has self-produced one album of electronic music. She is one of RoV's newest DJ's and is set to become huge in the SL music scene through her live music and fantastic DJ'ing.
I am looking to hire for different timezone events both musicians and DJs - both must have their own stream - if this sounds like you or someone you know - drop me an IM in-world or reply to this posting!!

BIG Names & Events Heading to Tony's Jazz Lounge & Piano Bar @ Rivers of Venus
Wow Yes!! You heard it here first!! We have some of Second Lifes biggest names in the music industry putting their stamp on Tony's Jazz Lounge & Piano Bar making it one of the HOTTEST venues this side of Hell!!!

Tuesday 8th April:
Live for Bluesday Afternoon at Tony's Jazz Lounge & Piano Bar - Tone Uriza (who's First Life avatar goes by "Tony Uribe" - http://www.tonystorpedoes.com/) is a force to be reckoned with in the world of Blues music. Tone has been playing guitar for 42 years and loves both the classic and contemporary blues masters equally and is ingenious in his interpretation of the Blues' rich history. His voice and guitar speak a language everyone can understand. Tony has opened for Albert Collins, Koko Taylor, Son Seals, Otis Rush, Mose Allison, John Lee Hooker, Carey Bell, and Ronnie Earl and the Broadcasters to name but a few. He has also backed up Homesick James, Willie Jaye "The Texas Hurricane", Zora Young, Raful Neal and Raful's daughter: Jackie Neal, and that's just a sample!! Most of all he is proud of the fact that he jammed and became friends with Albert Collins. Furthermore he has jammed onstage with Smokin' Ronnie Earl and Kenny Neal and was inducted into the Arizona Blues Hall Of Fame in October of 1999!!!

Juel Resistance (who's First Live Avatar goes by Suzen Juel - http://www.thesixtyone.com/JueLResistance/) is a Professional Singer/Songwriter/Artist who has been writing since 1979. She has been writen up in numerous magazines, interviewed in a great many podcasts and featured in dozens of both virtual and offline articles, as well as featured on several indie radio stations. JueL has been doing live performances since 1987, covering the upper midwest as well as several other areas when opportunity presents itself. JueL is well known in both SL and RL for her writing abilities as well as her unique style of performing, blending her life experiences as well as writing about how she perceives the world around her, often spending hours working on specific lyrics to convey specific emotions. There is nothing 'cliche' about this womans style!!!

More changes!!
Yep more changes yet again!
We have removed the cinema and the Gallery, however you are still able to buy from our popular vendors Winthorpe Creations and Urid Dals Hat Shop in the newly extended Venus Gardens.
We now have a rather fantastic retro Jazz Lounge and Piano Bar called "Tony's" which can be reached through the Venus Gardens. It has its own music stream and SLURL, and will play no Junk, Just Jazz!!
So what you waiting for? Come on Down all you Hep cats and check it out!!

Long Time No Post!!!
Yes its been a really long time since either of us posted last. We are sorry T.T, but hopefully now we should be getting back on track, keeping you up to date with all thats going on at Rivers, and who will be playing/djing live at each event (if I am vigilant enough to keep up LOL) and of course event themes, and all that good stuff.
I can tell you however that there are some really cool changes at RoV: we now have a cinema: the ODEON - so come check it out, the Venus Gardens have had a nice facelift, as has the Gallery. The RoV ballroom itself hasnt changed too much other than we have installed the new Intan Dance System which is a nifty gizmo allowing us to clear the ballroom of annoying danceballs and instead allow you to autrezz a couples dance anywhere within RoV that you wish!! We also have a few more gadgets and gizmos such as the noticeboard (check this out regularly to keep up-to-date with events (if you dont check the blog that is :P)), the contest boards - freeing up much of my time as a Host allowing me to spend more time schmoozing with you guys ;), and finally the RoV trivia machine, a cheap n' cheerful way to chill out and hang with friends and have a laugh while listening to our ever awesome music!!

DJ Dirty-T (Tony Kurrajong) - former owner/manager/DJ of various clubs in SL and Rivers of Venus Co-Owner!!
Tony has taken a short hiatus from RoV due to RL commitments, but you will see him from time to time Rockin' out RoV with his famous showmanship. We wish him the best and look eagerly forward to his more regular appearance once again in SL. Tony's speciality is that he specialises in almost every genre and can cater to everything from Frank Sinatra to Nightwish!!
DJ Absolution (Absolut Smirnov) - former manager/staff trainer/dancer of various clubs in SL and Rivers of Venus Co-Owner!!
Yep I had my RoV debut just last week as a regular DJ, my speciality is Ambient, Smooth Jazz, Brazilian dance, Cuban, 50's Rock n' Roll, Metal & Rock.
DJ Jokker Streeter - former VLB (Virtual Live Band) member turned Rivers Rock n' Blues Thru the Ages DJ!!
DJ Falconer Maltese - former internet radio DJ, turned SL DJ, and more importantly our weekly Themed Event DJ!!
DJ Alma Fushikizoh - former Birdland owner & DJ, turned RoV bi/tri-weekly Jazz Sessions DJ
Hmmm well I think thats enough to be getting on with, I'll try to keep this up-to-date but mean time drop us a line or comment and we will see you "in-world"

Secondlife Relay For Life Charity Auction @ Rivers of Venus!!
We have been honoured to be asked to play host to an event for the SLRFL (Secondlife Relay For Life - http://www.slrfl.org/).
For this event there will be a donation box available for all to donate throughout the evening, there will be a live DJ (Tony) aka Dj Sereni-T, and Absolut Smirnov will be hosting it.
At this event we will be holding a huge charity auction, whereby designers and retailers across SL will be donating items (some custom one off items also!!) to be put up for auction to the highest bidder and all the proceeds from the sale go to the SLRFL charity!!
